Most people have read or heard about amputees having a sensation known as phantom limbs or phantom pain. For those that don’t know it’s a condition that amputees can swear that they are grabing or touching something. interesting link

Lately I’ve been getting phantom hair. As most people know I’ve been shaving my head for 2 1/2 years. Yet lately I’ve been walking around and I have the feeling that my hair is blowing out of place as I walk. And like a total dork I reach up and try to brush it down.

I would like to know if anyone else that has shaved their heads have ever felt this phantom hair sensation.

    Craig Kelly, 36, of Nelson
    And others
    Naomi Heffler, 25, of Calgary;
Dave Finnery, 30, of New Westminster, B.C.,
Kathleen Kessler, 39, of Truckee, Calif.,
Dennis Yates, 50, of Los Angeles,
Ralph Lunsford, 49, of Littleton, Colorado
    and one man still unidentified.

All 7 were killed in an avalanche in Relelstoke, B.C. on Monday 1-21-03.

Craig Kelly is/was one of my heros in the world of snowboarding. I started riding in 1986 and Craig was the best rider in the world. Everyone looked up to him every video you saw, every photo spread he was pushing the limits of the sport. He had the very first Pro-model the mystery air. After he stopped having boards named after him he still worked with Burton developing new boards such as the supermodel.

Craig’s death is as impacting to the snowboard world as Dale Earnhardt’s death was to the sport of NASCAR.

Craig was big in to Burton’s Chill program which helps underprivileged kids to learn how to snowboard. Not a lot of riders would do that in this day and age of big ego pro-riders.

I got to meet Craig a few time while I worked at a snowboard shop. He was down to earth and just a fun guy to talk to. I was also privileged enough to get to ride with him for a half day during one of the shop demos.

Now some people are going to say that he shouldn’t have been in the back-country. Now that’s far from true, Craig taught classes on avalanche safety. It just proves that even the most prepared rider can get in to trouble.

Craig you will be missed by all snowboarders we have so much to thank you for.

I enjoy movies good or bad I tend to see most of the major movie releases that come to area theaters.

Now I don’t mind watching movie trailers, it’s advertising I can live with during my movie watching experience. However product ads drive me fucking nuts. I should not have to watch an ad for Coke or Volkswagen or Nvidia. Unless they are giving me a free drink with the keys to my new Beetle Convertible that has a brand new GeForce video card in it I don’t want to see their ads.

I would be more receptive to ads show before movies if it lowered my ticket cost, which it’s not. In fact ticket prices are continuing to rise.

The other bullshit that the ads cause is the movie start time is now 20 to 30 minutes later the the start time listed by the theaters. The movie studios aren’t going to have any fewer trailers just because their are ads before their trailers.

What is my solution to this well, support theaters that don’t play ads.

So far I’ve found the only two Starbuck stores in Contra Costa County to not have WiFi access.

You get spoiled when you have it at anyone you go to. And when they don’t have it it drives you nuts. At least the one I went to in Walnut Creek tonight I was able to walk less then a block to get a connection and one of the two other Starbucks. In fact it’s kinda scary that in Walnut Creek in the new Downtown Shopping are their are 3 Starbucks and a Barns and Noble that serves Starbucks in a 1/8th mile radius.

And yes I’ll admit I like being able to get online. You could say I’m almost addicted to the internet, but I don’t lock myself in my room playing Everquest those people are the truly sick ones.

God Damn people are fucking dumb.

Tonight takes the cake on stupidity of people. I went in to one of my remote sites tonight at 5 p.m. to oversee an equipment pick-up. When I walked into my building I went to use my access badge and low and behold it didn’t work. WTF?!? is this bullshit. I proceeded to call Grog (thanks for your help) since he was in the building and he could let me into the control room.

So since I couldn’t use my badge because Senior Stupid turned my badge off, I was going to use plan B and use the all access key that’s in the control room. Well since it’s in a lock box that utilizes a special key that needs to be updated every month. I went through all the update procedures and it didn’t work. At this point in time my temper is flaring, there is no one in the building that can let me into the area I need to get in since I’m one of a handful of people that has access to the storage area.

Now what really pisses me off is that according to my groups agreement with the rest of the worlds is that I’m supposed to have have 24/7 access to all our control rooms. Senior Stupid didn’t email me to let me know my badge was being turned off. Needless to say I’m just a bit pissed off. I also had to deal with traffic during rush hours to get back from Oakland to Walnut Creek, anyone who has driven on 24 at the Caldacott Tunnel knows what a pain in the ass this can be.

So what happens next? Tomorrow Senior Stupid is going to have a whole lot of explaining to due to his boss, my boss, and me. My badge will be turned back on and I will have to go back to Oakland Wednesday night. So it’s a lose-lose situation. But after writing this I feel much better.
