I’m truly amazed on how long one can go without eating food.
Since I’ve been struck with my current attack of diverticulitis, I have now gone with out a meal for the last 7 days. Now I’m not trying to starve myself, but one of the problems is that I don’t digest anything so food tends to build up in my stomach and then come out the way it came in, not fun.
So I’ve been living on liquids more or less. I’ve had some energy gel to try and get some calories into my system, but I don’t consider that real food.
The weight loss that has been associated with this bout is scary. I weighed in at 227 a week ago Saturday this morning I weighed in at 214.
I so want some solid food soon, I’m starting to go insane.

If I’ve seemed distant and scarce over the last week, well I know.
I’ve been feeling like shit since I was back in DC. I have a gut problem that tends to pop up twice a year and right now I’m going through a pretty bad attack. I felt as if I was going to die on Thursday from the pain and Friday was no walk in the park. I’m a little better today but I’m still in a fair amount of pain.
So if you try and talk to me and I’m short with you it’s not because I’m being an asshole, it’s due to the fact that I’m feeling like shit and I’m probably in a whole lot of pain and I’m just trying to get through it.

Well I’ve made it back to California in one piece more or less.
Now I don’t know what it is about old women, but why on earth do they have to put on the nastiest smelling perfumes on the planet. I had a 1000 year old Asian woman continually putting on this really fucking foul perfume, and I wasn’t the only one who noticed it the 6 people around me were also gagging up a storm every time she added more. It was so bad the one guy asked the flight attendant to do something about it. SHe tried but the old woman would have nothing to do with her instructions.
Other then the smelly old woman the flight was pretty good, the 1st officer kept saying we were on our way to Long Beach and about 30 seconds after the captain came on and said that he smacked the 1st office around and told the 1st officer to pull out a map and find Oakland was. It’s the small amusing things on a flight that helps make a flight good.
One of the interesting things is that when I was leaving DC it was raining and it was raining very hard at times and it was chilly out and when I got to Oakland it was hot and nasty. Two extremes in one day, granted travel does that but at times it’s still amusing.
Overall my trip back east was really good, but it’s nice to be back home.

Well my two weeks in Reston is over and while I had some fun while I was here, I’m ready to come home.
The best thing about the trip is I have solidified some great friendships with some of my teammates. Something that’s tough to do in everyday business. I have a few good friends here in DC now so if I ever decide to move out here for work I’m not coming here blind.
Training and national meetings can sometimes be the best team building because everyone there for reason and for the most part want to be there. The stories and the bullshitting flows like beer after work and can be damn amusing at times.
But if things work out I’ll be here again in two weeks.

So I went and did something lastnight I haven’t done in a long time, I went swing dancing. After the implosion of the swing scene in SF I haven’t had the chance to go out and swing dance. Granted I not a great dancer, but I have fun when I do it.
So lastnight I was taken to a place in Georgetown Called Lulu’s by one of our local teammates Irene, who btw is a much better dancer then she says she is. I was very rusty at first but after a few dances and 2 Gin and Tonics I was finnaly getting in to the swing of things (pun intended). It was so nice to see people dancing and just hanging out and having fun listening to good music.
All I know is that when I come back I’m bring my shoes and I”m going to go down the dance studio by my house (hint Brianna you are going with me) so I can try and get some skills back.
