Pirate.org is now 10 years old. It’s kind of hard to believe, Back in the beginning I went in on the domain with a friend of mine Steve who filled out the paperwork which by the way was a pain in the ass and to get a .org was a chore since the internic was enforcing rules on .nets and .orgs.
After a year or so Steve decided to go one to another domain and I decided to keep the domain going even though at the time they changed the rules and it started costing 50 bucks a year, when we got the domain it was free.
Over the years I’ve had a few different site designs most of them sucked balls, and I had grandiose plans to do what gizmodo and engadget do long before they existed, but with lack of funding not being a very good designer it just didn’t happen.
It’s kinda of interesting that over the last 10 years things have changed so much on the internet the boom and the bust. In fact last week I had to go to SF for a meeting and I ended up hooking up with Desmond and we went to the tenth anniversary of CNET.com. I remember watching the very first show and going oh my god this is so cool, there was nothing like it at the time. Then Desmond ended up getting his job there and so I got to go hang out when I was unemployed after getting laid-off from Egghead. And now CNET is just a site that in my opinion isn’t as good as it used to be and that the spark and the edge they had is just gone.
Ok back to me. Pirate.org is 10 years old and counting I’ve thought about letting it go from time to time, but those moment’s are short.

Ok I’ve been a slacker, and really busy with work. I was finally able to get my first video from Cancun don and published.
There are more but this is one the Eric has been waiting for.
I shot this with my SD500 with the underwater case, it’s not too bad a little over exposed, so I will just have to go back to reshoot it.

So I’m sitting here in the oakland airport waiting for my flight back to orange county, and I discovered that there is no wifi access in terminal 2. There is however access in terminal 1. So I figured that I would try to create an entry on my blackberry. Yes I’m that bored.
Now it’s time to start randomly calling people.

A interesting morning since 12:01 am. As with every trip I stay up to check in online and low and behold I discovered that my flight is not going to Orange County it’s going to Ontario instead. Somehow I managed to click the wrong damn airport. What makes matters worse is I fly in and out of both so I probably just glazed over it like it was normal. Then I looked at my car rental and it was for a pickup at Orange County, well I don’t know my Hertz gold number off the top of my head so I was a little panicked. Good thing is I discovered that my company’s travel site is outsourced and can be seen on the internet rather then the intranet. So a few keystrokes later I was able to change my rental car to Ontario.
I had to get up way too early and I called a cab even before I showered and dressed and yet the cab didn’t show until 5:40 and my flight is at 6:40. The cabbie showed up and he speed me off to the airport. Now I’m just sitting in line waiting to board One thing I really dislike about traveling is the hurry up and wait aspect. You have to rush and rush to get to the gate to get in line and then you have to wait an hour or two before you are really on your way.
Overall I’m here and I’m flying to Southern California, I will get to my job site before noon and all will be good. With all the traveling I’ve done this year flying to Ontario instead of Orange County isn’t too bad of a mistake in the grand scheme of things it just a major time suck since I will have to deal with traffic.
