Well after three years of service I’m replacing my trusty 17″ powerbook. It’s a great machine but for me it’s starting to show it’s age, and I’m needing a bit more power then it can handle as well as USB 2.0 since it was the first rev of the Al powerbooks it came with USB 1.1 and no USB 2.0 if it had the USB 2.0 I would probably still be using it.

The replacement is a 15.4 inch MacBook Pro. I’ve stepped down a screen size but the resolution is the same as my 17″ so I’m not really sacrificing there. It’s a much faster machine duo core 2.16ghz compared to a single 1ghz g4.

However my old machine has one major advantage over my new one and that’s the PCMCIA slot. I can’t use my EVDO card on the new Macbook Pro until somebody comes out with a solution to allow me to use my card or Sprint releases the express 3/4 card.

Still it’s a little sad since I really liked the 17″ PB but again it was showing it’s age, it wasn’t my first mac however I did own a 7100/66 AV 601 PowerPC machine back in 95.

So I have to say after having my FJ for over a week and a half now, I really love it.

I haven’t had so much fun driving a truck since I drove my old Jeep not that 1990 POS I had, I’m talking about my 1971 CJ-5 made by Kaiser. If I had regrets about getting rid of one car in my past it would have been my Jeep. At the time I had to make a choice either keep the Bronco or the Jeep I couldn’t keep both and since my dad had just passed away at the time the Bronco made more sense. Not to say I didn’t have fun in that Bronco, like King street when it was fun or almost launching Rice out the window jumping Gough St at Eddy st.

I will have loads of photos soon, just haven’t had the time to get good photos I’m going to try to get some going this weekend.

After 6 years of service it was time to put the Tahoe down. On Saturday Teri and I went to the Toyota dealer and we picked up the new FJ Cruiser. I have to say this thing is badass. It drives like a champ it's smooth as silk on the freeway at 80 and quite inside while on the road you can hold a conversation, well if the stereo isn't thumping, 8 speakers and a subwoofer built in. Don't under estimate it as a 4×4 it was built of the FJ40 heritage and it's built to go off road.

I will have more photos soon and more spec's once I get back from D.C.
